The Intelligence Revolution: AI Through the Lean Lens

AI is transforming the AEC industry, offering unprecedented opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize workflows. This session will explore how AI aligns with Lean Design & Construction principles, driving innovation while maintaining a people-first approach. Attendees will learn how AI supports the six core Lean principles, from improving collaboration and eliminating waste to enhancing continuous improvement strategies. We will provide practical guidance on getting started with AI, including key considerations for implementation. Additionally, we’ll highlight the critical role of structured organizational and project data in maximizing AI’s effectiveness. By the end of this session, participants will gain a clear understanding of AI’s potential impact and actionable steps to integrate AI-driven solutions into their Lean Design & Construction practices.

Speakers:

Ryan Dobbins, KLH Engineers, brings 25 years of experience in construction logistics, field operations, manufacturing, and project management to KLH Engineers. As Vice President of Strategic Growth, he leads the software engineering department, focusing on leadership development, innovation, and the integration of artificial intelligence in workflows across the organization and its’ projects. Since joining KLH in 2022, Ryan has been dedicated to enhancing how data is captured, utilized, and shared among owners, architects, contractors, and manufacturing representatives to improve collaboration and efficiency across the industry.

Patrick Edridge, AI Architect and lead mechanical associate at KLH Engineers, focuses on integrating Artificial Intelligence into the AEC industry, specializing in deep neural networks, computer vision, and large language models. He and his team have successfully deployed numerous AI-focused tools internally, significantly enhancing the efficiency and capabilities of their company. A tech enthusiast and optimist, Patrick believes that while a bright future for the industry is possible, it requires deliberate and intentional efforts to achieve. His commitment to advancing technology in engineering reflects this belief, combining technical expertise with a visionary outlook.
