A Collaborative Roadmap for Navigating Complex Projects

using Herrero Lean VIP

Herrero Builders’ Nicholas Luciani, Project Executive & Pallavi Mittal Project Engineer, along with John LeBlanc with KMD Architecture will demonstrate how project conditions can significantly improve with clear communication, collaboration, and project goals. The team at the UCSF LPPI project is a perfect example of building a successful project by utilizing conditions of satisfaction and a framework and culture around relationships, regardless of contract type.

Using Herrero’s VIP, Value Identification Process, to identify the project’s true north indicators, build trust and open communication while getting back to Lean Principle basics helped the team buy-in, promote value alignment, minimize the risks, and enhance design and construction flow. The team developed a collective framework for project success by applying additional Lean tools like Gemba and Genchi Genbutsu to pinpoint shared lessons learned from similar projects and applied them to the UCSF LPPI project.

We will demonstrate the success of VIP and Lean tools by asking attendees to complete a checklist that will provide a basic roadmap to improve collaboration, stakeholder buy-in, and identify shared values. Attendees can take home and customize the checklist to their individual needs.
