Last Planner® System in Design

LCI icon

Design and Construction projects often struggle with applying the Last Planner® System (LPS®) in the project design phases. Often, unplanned activities result in unforeseen constraints that result in significant re-planning and missed milestones. Usually, these breakdowns are a result of not understanding and planning the activities that truly release work in design (a key concept of LPS). Newer efforts have been successful at summarizing how the design process functions and recommending enhancements to LPS to ease its use in design. This, interactive presentation will explore how the design product is generated and what constrains it as well as the new concept of decision-based and work–release-based milestones explored in recent publications.
