Selecting the Dream Team for Project Success

LCI icon

One of the greatest impacts to the success of a project is the people who are selected to join the team. Each team member brings different attributes to the field and has the power to impact the game, both for the win or for a loss. In this IPD draft pick, you’ll get to know the players, what characteristics they bring to the table and the expectations they hold for their fellow teammates. Most importantly, you’ll get an inside look at the what the Owner searches for to build a Dream Team to deliver the gold.

Teams are often assembled without the consultation or buy-in of the other team members. It is critical then that the Owner considers the potential to impact culture when selecting new team members. Project delivery is a team sport, and the superstar pick is not always the best choice if they risk disrupting the chemistry of the team. High performing teams are hard to assemble, but when done right, everyone involved won’t want the project to end, simply because they’re having too much fun.

We will have a welcome address from Genentech and a view of what’s on the horizon.

The IPD Draft will give a playbook on selecting teams who are motivated to build durable and trusting relationships that are the foundation to project success.

  • What makes a good team member?
  • Are there repeatable characteristics that Owners place higher value on?
  • Are there project-specific attributes Owners look for?
  • What behaviors contribute to a toxic culture?
  • Identify countermeasures to root out and eliminate bad behaviors.
  • Identify tools and tactics to facilitate a high performing culture.
