Lean Leadership – “Modeling the Art and Science of Reliable Promising”

The Last Planner System® is the heart of Lean Design and Construction.  Successful projects are networks of kept commitments, and when we see projects fail it is often due to the lack of respect for keeping one’s word.

As Lean Leaders, we need to model the behavior we expect.  Exercising the use of Reliable Promising shows our project teams that our word is truly our bond.  If we don’t keep our promises, how can we expect others to create theirs?  “Respect for People’ is one of the 6 tenets of Lean – and practicing Reliable Promising builds a culture of kept commitments.
